Gunmen kill Borno state CAN secretary minutes after state of emergency rule

Just minutes after President Goodluck Jonathan declared state of emergency in three northern states – Borno, Adamawa and Yobe, gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram members killed the Secretary of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Borno state, Reverend Faye Pama Musa.

According to Kenny Asaka, spokesman of the National President of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rev Ayo Oritsajafor, the Reverend was killed around 7.30pm Tuesday evening.

“The Borno CAN secretary has been killed. We’ve got the report and the national president received it with heavy heart. It is very sad,” the spokesperson added.

This came barely 30 minutes after the president declared emergency rule in the state, citing insecurity.

Reverend Pama Musa, who was the head pastor of a pentecostal church in Maiduguri, was shot dead at a close range inside his GRA home by two gunmen who trailed him to his residence.
